Over the weekend, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in east Texas bringing extreme winds and heavy rainfall crippling most the state.
Blavity reported Sunday that the bulk of the damage took place in Houston where 30 inches of water fell in two days.
Harvey claimed five lives as it advanced from a category 2 to a category 4 storm. Thousands of victims were displaced as the waters rose. Roadways were flooded preventing people from leaving the city, homeowners fled to their rooftops to be rescued and emergency agencies were overwhelmed by the number of victims in need.
In wake of the chaos, celebrities have asked people to pray for the beleaguered city.
Comedian Kevin Hart has launched the Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge to get others of influence to use their resources to help those in need. Hart has already donated $25,000 to the Red Cross.
