People are not pleased with Bill Maher after he shared his unsolicited advice about Jada Pinkett Smith. According to Metro UK, Maher was commenting on the infamous Oscar incident during Friday’s episode of his HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher.
Maher started his three-minute monologue by extending his support to Will Smith, and quickly rescinded it as a April Fools joke and called him a “d**k.” He then went on to discuss how the whole world has been talking about the incident at the Oscars, saying that the on-going chatter shows “the whole keep my wife’s name out of your mouth thing didn’t really work out.”
The 66-year-old host continued, making a misogynist comment about Jada, TMZ reports.
“Comparing a woman to Demi Moore looking her hottest is not exactly the worst insult I’ve ever heard in the world,” he said, according to TMZ.
He went on to make fun of Jada’s medical condition.
“I mean alopecia, it’s not leukemia OK?” he said. “Alopecia is when your hair falls out — there are worse things.”
Maher added that he doesn’t feel bad for Will “defending the honor of the woman who was f**king August Alsina.”
During the show, Maher also said that Jada should “just put on a f**king wig like everybody else at the Oscars if it bothers you so much.”
Twitter has been ablaze with responses to Maher’s controversial thoughts.
“@billmaher you have no clue..alopecia is a serious disease and for some wigs aren’t an option. Furthermore Jada’s Alopecia is the result of an autoimmune disease. Educate yourself first before speaking,” one user wrote.
“I’m not sure that black women need advice from old white guys when it comes to their hair,” another user added. “It’s not like they know what they’re talking about…”
“Your comments about Jada are disgusting,” another user wrote. “You should be ashamed talking about a woman like that.”
Maher’s hot take comes after Will resigned from the Motion Picture Academy, the Independent reports.
“I betrayed the trust of the Academy,” Will said in a statement sent to People. “I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken.”
