Birmingham Set To Host HBCU SpringComing Festival Over Memorial Day Weekend

Founded in 2015, HBCU SpringComing is an annual festival that celebrates the legacy and culture associated with these illustrious universities.

“HBCU SpringComing is a spirited collective work and responsibility practiced by alumni from all of our beloved institutions,” co-founder George Peters II noted. “It is our chance to ensure that we protect the sacred spaces that helped us to get to where we are now, well before we knew what we could become. We do that simply by sharing space with each other, reviving our favorite traditions and making new memories as we introduce our families to the celebration of the unique education only possible on Historically Black campuses.”

On top of celebrating HBCU culture, the event also works to help increase financial contributions towards scholarships for students.

Now, HBCU SpringComing is getting ready to head Down South.

“I am thrilled to welcome HBCU SpringComing to our city,” Birmingham Mayor Randall L. Woodfin said. “Alabama has the most HBCUs in the country and hosting this amazing event in Birmingham puts the celebration at the center of it all. We will add our Southern flair and charm to make this event reminiscent of a true homecoming tailgate experience.”

You heard right! HBCU SpringComing will be here in Birmingham May 27-29 alongside the SWAC Baseball Tournament.

The festival will go down over Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-29).

The upcoming HBCU SpringComing x BHAM event will coincide with the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Tournament, which is taking place May 25-29 in Birmingham.

The city will definitely be buzzing with tons of different festivities later this month.

HBCU SpringComing x BHAM isn’t the only upcoming event that’s celebrating HBCU culture.
