Rumors spread on social media that legendary rapper and DJ Biz Markie had died last night. The rumors, however, were determined to be false by his manager, NBC News reports.

Biz’s manager, Jenni Izumi, debunked the rumors of his death in an official statement, saying the “Juice Crew” MC is still alive and receiving proper medical attention.

"The news of Biz Markie’s passing is not true,” Izumi’s statement read. “Biz is still under medical care, surrounded by professionals who are working hard to provide the best health care possible. Biz’s wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers and fans alike. At this time, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

Izumi didn't give any specifics about Markie’s condition or his diagnosis in her statement.

Over the last few years, Biz has been dealing with several health challenges and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. In an attempt to live a healthier lifestyle, Biz changed his eating habits and reportedly lost 140 pounds, according to ABC News.

“I wanted to live,” Biz said in his interview with ABC News about his lifestyle change. “Since I have to be a diabetic, if I didn’t make the changes, it was going to make the diabetes worse. I’m trying to get off [the Diabetes meds]. The way you gotta do it is lose the weight. I’m off half my meds, I just got to get off the rest. They said I could lose my feet. They said I could lose body parts. A lot of things could happen.”

Last year, it was reported that Biz had suffered a stroke from complications from diabetes. Due to his illness, Biz was off the grid, causing his fans to be concerned about his well-being.

Biz burst on the hip-hop scene during the “Golden Era” with the release of his 1988 debut Goin’ Off. The album included definitive classics like “Make The Music With Your Mouth Biz,” “Vapors,” “Pickin’ Boogers” and “Nobody Beats The Biz.”

In 1989, Biz released his signature song “Just A Friend,” which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The beloved MC has become one of the most notable icons in hip-hop culture. Affectionately called the “Clown Prince of Hip-Hop,” he’s appeared on television shows such as Celebrity Fit Club, Nick Cannon’s Wild ‘N Out, Empire, Black-ish and in 2002, he had a cameo in Men In Black II. He’s also made appearances in episodes of Nickelodeon’s hit kids show Yo Gabba Gabba and toured around the world as a DJ.
