A security guard has been fired after he attempted to order a “Trayvon Martini” from a black bartender.
The bartender, known as Alobar Bandaloop on Facebook, described his encounter with security guard Mike Dargy in a post on Monday:
Bandaloop refused to serve him and expressed concern about Dargy retaining his position. He said he was “brushed offed” when he contacted Dargy’s supervisors.
“Herein lies the big problem: he’s paid by the neighborhood to walk around with a pistol and “police” the area. This is a huge issue with me. Who can trust this man in any interaction with an African American? How can this man make sure any mixed cultures are “secure”?” he continued.
Dargy told KCUR Bandaloop’s account was "extremely embellished."
Chesley Brown International, the firm that employed Dargy, confirmed his firing in a statement, according to The Kansas City Star.
“Once this information was brought to our attention we opened an internal investigation which led to this suspension and the removal of the employee from the property,” it read. “While the investigation continues and remains active, the officer’s employment with Chesley Brown has ended.”
