Marvel’s Blade starring Mahershala Ali is set to begin filming very soon.

According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance‘s productionlist.com,  the film is set to begin production on July 4. According to the listing, Blade will shoot in Atlanta, GA, as well as New Orleans, LA. Outside of the date and location, the production listing also has a brief synopsis for the Blade reboot.

"He is known to be a vampire hunter— half-mortal, half-immortal— who tries to rid the world of vampires as a way of avenging his mother, who was killed by a vampire as she gave birth to him," the synopsis reads.

The role of the day-walking vampire will be played by Mahershala Ali, who assumes the role from legendary actor Wesley Snipes. Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre are also slated to star.

The news of Mahershala Ali’s casting as Blade was announced during Marvel’s panel at the San Diego Comic-Con on in 2019 as the final surprise after the rest of the MCU’s Phase 4 slate was unveiled. Ali came out to thunderous applause, and donned a Blade baseball cap, confirming his casting.

The film is slated to be helmed by Mogul Mowgli director Bassam Tariq. The script was written by Watchmen writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour.

As we previously reported, the character Blade was recently hinted at in the Disney+ Marvel series Loki, when Mobius (Owen Wilson) complains to Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) about keeping track of Loki variants being tougher than tracking down vampires in the Sacred Timeline. Then, it was officially confirmed that the character was now in the MCU when Ali voiced the character in a post-credits scene with Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington).
