Blair Underwood and longtime friend Josie Hart got married on June 24 in front of 100 guests at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in the Dominican Republic. Underwood, who’s 58, said he was mesmerized when he saw his bride step out in her stunning all-white gown.

“The first time I saw her in the dress, she looked like a princess,” Underwood told People. “She was so beautiful. The deep emotions that were displayed during the ceremony, the lightness and fun of the reception, it all felt humbling because it all just fell into place. It was amazing.”

Underwood also talked about how much he was involved in the wedding planning process.

“I’m a Virgo and a bit of a perfectionist, so I like to make sure details are taken care of,” he said.

The wedding’s mouth-watering menu included Dominican ceviche and coconut-breaded shrimp, along with grilled bacon-wrapped plantains. The couple also enjoyed some delightful French vanilla and butter crème frosted cake at their reception.

“It was surreal and magical,” Hart said about the wedding, according to People. “His vows, to hear him say the words he said to me for our forever was incredible. Between our children and all of them giving toasts, the fireworks right after our first dance, the entire day was just beyond my expectations.”

Underwood was 16 when he first met Hart. The pair continued to build their friendship over the next 43 years but didn’t start dating until recently after they each divorced their spouses.

“My mother loved and adored her. We lived separate lives on separate coasts. We never saw each other a lot. But when we talked, there’s always such a strong connection of just understanding each other,” Underwood said.

Hart has children from a previous marriage, but there’s not much more information known about her, People reported.
