If there’s one thing most of the culture can agree on, it’s the appreciation for shaking and showing some ass. But our infatuation runs deeper than just the physical. Our freedom to express ourselves and shake our behinds is part of an autonomy that women, Black women in particular, haven’t always had access to. 2019, however, seemed to be filled with body and booty positivity. With that in mind, we’d be completely out of line to not honor the best booty moments of the year.
1. Cardi B being Bardy
Cardi B has been serving us great booty moments since she arrived on the scene. This year was no different. The rapper and mother made an appearance in City Girls’ “Twerk” video dressed as an unforgettable Tiger. It would be impossible to think you could pair Yung Miami and Cardi B together and not have an epic booty shaking moment. In fact, it's so epic it might be a little irresponsible to post so much ass shaking in one place, but here's a reminder of just how hard the song slapped — it spent weeks climbing the Billboard charts.

2. Normani's Basketball Moves

The former Fifth Harmony member had a breakout year and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person, as she revealed to Billboard the racist experiences she encountered while in the group. In the same interview, Normani went on to talk about her obligation as a Black artist.
“There’s a responsibility I have as a black woman — one of the very few to have the power to kill it. Even in the mainstream, there’s not many of us. Especially chocolate girls. Like, being African-American is one thing, but girls [with] my complexion. It’s unheard of. It’s me, and SZA. Who else?” She added.
“Kill it,” she absolutely did when she released the 90s inspired video for her song “Motivation.” The choreography included acrobatics, skorts and a very impressive basketball trick that drove the internet crazy.
3. Lizzo’s Twerk Time

Lizzo has been shaking her booty right into our hearts. First, she was spotted at the 2019 BET Awards terrorizing the stage with her reimagined wedding gown that spiraled into a booty shaking flute solo for “Truth Hurts.” One can see Rihanna in the audience delighting in the action, as if the moment couldn't be more perfect.
Most recently, Lizzo could be seen courtside at the Lakers game gracing fans and offending haters with her twerk time.

4. Beyoncé Ivy Park Relaunch
Beyoncé announced the relaunch of her Ivy Park brand with a jaw dropping, curvaceous photo. She gave us an added bonus with the detailed bead work in her braids. It's no telling how long she sat in the braiders chair to accomplish this look but we cannot get enough. The Adidas collaboration will drop on January 18th and some suspect the apparel will be perfect for our Olympic athletes.
I just realised that the timing for IVY PARK launch is perfect cause in 2020 Olympic Games take place so imagine olympic athletes around the world wearing IVP or Beyonce x Adidas products. pic.twitter.com/PZywSMLDqW— BeyhiveGreece (@yoncestanforce1) December 23, 2019
5. Solange and The Backup Dancer

Solange brought all of her divine-melanin-femme energy to the Jimmy Fallon stage to perform a mini-concert comprised of songs from her fourth album When I Get Home. It was nothing short of living, breathing art and it was difficult to look away from the screen for even one second. Part of this difficulty was due to Solange's back up dancer, elevated on stage. The dancer, outfitted in a white leotard, mesmerized the audience with her master class ass throwing. It was peak Black girl and it was heavenly

6. Rihanna. (That's all)
thank you @PericoPrincess and @russdiemon for my new fav song #BestOnEarth pic.twitter.com/PhTMgEP4Ek— Rihanna (@rihanna) October 19, 2019
Rhianna and the elusive album that she refuses to release has been on the hearts and minds of the internet. While her Navy begs for a taste of music, Rihanna has instead decided to distract us by serving unlimited amounts of bawdy. That said, it's hard to complain.
7. City Girls
It wasn't just a City Girls' summer, it was a city girls' year. Rappers Yung Miami and JT, who was released from jail on fraud charges in October, created a movement that took over the culture. In essence, the movement promoted female independence, cunning wit and emphasizing all points with a period(t). Of course, none of this was accomplished without a healthy amount of twerking.
8. Megan Thee Stallion. Everyday.
Meg Thee Stallion continued to keep her foot, and thighs, on our necks in 2019. To choose one specific booty moment that stands out would be like searching for a needled in a haystack. The 5’10 Houston native (how she got the name stallion) isn’t just a pretty face. She can also be found hitting the books at Texas Southern University, where she is pursuing a career in Health Administration.Whatever she touches turns to gold and her booty bounces are on Jedi mastery level.
bruh one day meg thee stallion gonna twerk so hard her cheeks lift her up in the air and just fly her away pic.twitter.com/bX4KLWrVU6

9. Ciara and Megan Thee Stallion duo
Ciara, Megan Thee Stallion and their super strong knees met forces in November to bless the internet with an impromptu twerk collaboration. It all went down behind-the-scenes of the American Music Awards red carpet rollout. Ciara hosted the event and was obviously in good spirits.
Pinpointing exactly which booty moment took precedence would be counterproductive to the City Girls spirit —so we'll just say they're all worthy. Each of these moments contributed to the most booty-filled year of the decade.
