Most of us were not winning Grammy Awards at 9 years old but then again, most of us aren't Blue Ivy Carter. The talented daughter of Beyoncé and JAY-Z
managed to bring home her first Grammy thanks to her work on her mom's song, "Brown Skin Girl." 

The song's music video won the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Music Video at Sunday afternoon's Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah. Blue Ivy has a writing credit on the song and appeared in the music video. The win makes her the second-youngest person to ever win a Grammy after then 8-year-old Leah Peasall was part of the Album of the Year win for the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack in 2002, according to CBS. 

The 9-year-old has already secured an NAACP Image Award, a BET Award and a Soul Train Award for her work on the song. She won her Grammy alongside her mother and WizKid while taking on a field of nominees that included Future, Drake, Anderson .Paak, Harry Styles and Woodkid.

The win for "Brown Skin Girl" was one of four separate trophies that Beyoncé won at the ceremony to officially set the new record as the winningest female artist for most Grammy wins with 28 gramophones to her name, as Blavity previously reported. She is now tied with legendary producer Quincy Jones and three wins behind composer Georg Solti for the most Grammy wins of all-time.  

The heralded video for "Brown Skin Girl" featured
Lupita Nyong'o, Kelly Rowland and other famous Black women. The song was on Beyoncé's Lion King: The Gift album, which accompanied the Disney live-action version of The Lion King. 

"As an artist, I believe it's my job, and all of our jobs, to reflect [the] time and it's been such a difficult time. This is such a magical night," Beyoncé said after winning the award, according to The New York Times.
