A24 has released the first official trailer for its upcoming slasher dark comedy, Bodies Bodies Bodies.
The film originally premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival and received positive reviews from critics. Pete Davidson, Amandla Stenberg, Rachel Sennott, Chase Sui Wonders, Myha’la Herrold, Maria Bakalova and Lee Pace star. The film is from Halina Reijn.
The movie will debut in theaters on August 5.
A murder mystery game goes wrong
Per an official logline, “the film centers on a group of rich 20-somethings who plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion. The party game goes awry when someone takes the game too seriously.”
Friends begin to kill
In the trailer, the group of friends all stop partying to play the mystery game. The rules are that everyone has to draw a slip of paper to determine who’s the killer. Whoever draws the X card hunts down and “murders” while the others try to survive the night. There are twists and turns with players crying. Someone takes the game too literally and becomes a real killer, leading to a scene out of 20/20.
The trailer features “Hot Girl,” a new original song from Charli XCX.
