Police in Georgia have found the body of Fort Valley State University student Anitra Gunn, who was missing since February 15. Gunn's body was found at 3 p.m. on Tuesday near the Peach-Crawford county line, reports 13 WMAZ.

Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese and Georgia Bureau of Investigation special agent JT Ricketson held a press conference on Tuesday evening, telling reporters police were able to narrow down their search because bushes and sticks found in the grill of Gunn's car helped them determine that she may be in Crawford County near the Peach-Crawford county line.

Deese said the 23-year-old's body was covered "as if someone tried to hide it," and authorities found the missing front bumper to her car nearby.

Gunn's boyfriend, DeMarcus Little, who is also 23, was arrested for criminal damage to property belonging to Gunn in a situation that occurred earlier this month, reports CNN. He has been interviewed by police three times in connection with Gunn's death and is a person of interest, but he has not been arrested for her murder, according to Deese.

Gunn was last seen near Little's aunt's home on the morning of Valentine's Day. She initially did not implicate him in a February 5 incident when her apartment windows were smashed and her vehicle tires were slashed, according to the police report.

"I asked Ms. Gunn did she know of anyone that might have done this and she stated no. Ms. Gunn also stated that she had not had any issues with anyone," a police officer wrote at the time. It is still unclear how they connected Little to the situation, but he is currently being held in Peach County jail, reports 13 WMAZ.

“I think it’s pretty common sense who our person of interest is. It’s the boyfriend. We’ve talked to him three times,” Deese said.

On Friday, Gunn spoke to her father, Christopher Gunn, for Valentine's Day but didn't respond to texts and calls from others hours after speaking with him.

"She never texted them back, didn't call them back. That's when we knew something is definitely out of whack," Gunn's father told 13 WMAZ. Police conducted a welfare check, but her apartment did not look disturbed. Christopher Gunn drove to Fort Valley from Atlanta the day after and filed a police report.

Police found her car nearby with a missing front bumper and began an investigation throughout the weekend. They released a statement announcing a $5,000 reward for any information before finding Gunn's body on Tuesday.

Dunn was a senior majoring in agriculture at Fort Valley State University.

"We are intensely saddened to learn of Anitra Gunn’s death. On behalf of the entire campus community, we wish to convey our most heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and other loved ones. Her loss is a tragedy for all those who loved Anitra, for Fort Valley State University and our entire community," FVSU President Paul Jones said in a statement.
