nullPreviews for The Bodyguard the musical are set to start November 6 with its official opening on December 5 at the Adelphi Theater in Londons West End.  As previously reported the musical will star Tony winner Heather Headley as Rachel Marron and Lloyd Owens as Frank Farmer in the roles made famous by Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.

The musical will be Directed by Thea Sparrok (Equus) and feature music from the original motion picture as well as other classic Whitney Houston songs.  The new Book adapted from the Screenplay by Lawrence Kasdon will be done by Alx Dinelaris with Scenic and Costume Design by Tim Hatley, Choreography by Arthur Pita and Orchestrations by Chris Egan.

With rehearsal underway the marketing machine has gone into action releasing a few more teasers.  This time out Heather Headley tackles the iconic "I Will Always Love You" and "I Have Nothing."

Listening I couldn't help thinking this show is going to be a monster vocally . . . even with the obvious key changes. Hope Heather has been working those vocal chords out prior to rehearsal and getting plenty of rest.

With no one credited with writing any original music it seems The Bodyguard will be a true 'Jukebox Musical' in the veign of Jersey Boys and Mamma Mia.  Curious what other songs they will pull from Houstons body of work to tell the story and what songs other characters in the show will take on.
