Baton Rouge rapper Boosie BadAzz was spotted in Atlanta, Georiga, at an NBA game wearing a shirt affiliated with the historically Black fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi on Wednesday, and the Greek community was not here for it. But in a turn of events, Boosie took to social media to troll the members of the organization.
Members of the fraternity, which was founded in 1911 at Indiana University Bloomington for Black men, flocked to social media for what they consider appropriation of their sacred insignia.
Boosie was sitting courtside of a Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks game when he posted a picture wearing a bright red crewneck sweatshirt with the Greek letters Kappa Alpha Psi just three days after the organization's founder's day.
The rapper accompanied the post with the caption "#KAPPAFRESH." While the 37-year-old admitted that he knew what the letters represented, he thought he would get "love" for wearing the shirt.
Typically, Greek letters are hailed as a symbol of achievement for the members of their respective organizations. The organizations that make up the Divine 9 were founded to provide a collective space for Black scholars to serve their community while upholding scholastic standards in the early 1900s.
The men of the organization, who often refer to themselves as Nupes, responded with dismay because, culturally, the fraternity's likeness is only to be worn by members that have been formally inducted.
In a video, Boosie told his fans that people were telling him to take the sweater off because "dudes are really passionate about that.” He said another person told him that "I don't want nothing to happen to you man."
The "Wipe Me Down" rapper responded and said, "I wear what I wanna wear."
The feud between the rapper and the Kappas created endless Twitter memes.

After a full day of Black Greek Twitter and friends chiming in on what they consider to be disrespect, Boosie started a live video in response.

Boosie said he won’t wear the shirt if Kappas teach him the “dance”.

Boosie eventually issued an apology and told the Nupes he would stop trolling them if they taught him how to shimmy, a routine that is often performed by the members of the organization.
As Boosie clearly seems unbothered and is persistent on learning a stroll or two, someone should go check on the Kappas.
