Ok, so back in April, we reported that Codeblack Entertainment had acquired domestic distribution rights to Politics of Love, a romantic comedy starring Brian White and Mallika Sherawat as young campaigners in love who happen to be on opposite sides of the 2008 Obama-McCain U.S. presidential race.
At the time, it was reported that the film would be released theatrically in July, with no specific day given; it wasn’t released in July, and then last month, as we noted, the story seemed to have adjusted to include a VOD release for the film in September, but we had no word on whether a theatrical release was still in the works.
Fast-forward to today, and the answer to that riddle has been answered for me. Yes, the film will be released in a limited number of theaters; AND it’s opening THIS weekend! Who knew? Where’s the marketing campaign? I know it’s a small film, but given how much time I spend online on a wide variety of websites, I’m surprised I haven’t seen much of a web-based grassroots push for its release.
But now you know… so, go see it if you’re interested. I couldn’t find any info on what cities it’ll play in (not on the film’s website, nor its Facebook page) so check your local listings.
UPDATE: the team behind the film’s release sent me an email with the following info regarding theaters:
