The 35-year-old woman who died in a car crash on Monday in Houston has been identified as TikTok star Britney Murphy. The fatal crash happened when Murphy and her mother, Sherie Smith, were going to a Juneteenth celebration. Police said Murphy was driving when a truck hit her car.

Murphy’s sister Tiffany Smith Cofield said she saw the scene of the accident as she was heading home.

“It looked like her car and everybody, when I was walking up, said a mom and daughter died and I knew they had left and knew the only mom and daughter would be my mom and sister,” Cofield told ABC 13.

Cofield said the two women were her best friends.

“There will never be a time when I won’t miss my mother and my sister,” she said. “They were everything.”

The devastated sister added that she is proud of her sister, who had more than 400,000 followers on TikTok. Cofield described her sister as funny and relatable.

“That’s what I want people to remember,” she said. “Not the way they died, but the way they lived and the life they loved and who they inspired.”

Murphy was known as THATGIRLBRITNEYJOY on her TikTok page. In her final post on TikTok, Murphy performs a skit where she suddenly realizes she doesn’t have to go to work because it’s Juneteenth. The TikTok star changes from her work clothes, pours herself a drink and comfortably settles on her couch to celebrate the holiday.
