Eight-time WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner has proven to be one of the greatest and most respected women in the game. However, that reverence hasn’t helped one bit in her current predicament.

Back in February of this year, she was arrested after entering Moscow, Russia, as she headed to play in their league. Griner got jammed over a vaporizer containing hashish oil (a derivative of marijuana) and, to many people, her imprisonment felt extra as hell.

Since then, Griner has been convicted of drug possession and smuggling.  She was sentenced to nine years in prison, under an unjust legal system that has an acquittal rate of less than 1%.  She was also fined one million rubles ($16,700). The entire case has triggered many and generated domestic and international outrage.

However, her good ol’ college coach isn’t one of the outraged folks. While most people in sports are in support of Griner and have publicly sent their positive sentiments, former Baylor coach, and present LSU coach, Kim Mulkey seemingly doesn’t have any kind words for Griner or the matter.

During a press conference on Monday, Sept. 26, Mulkey was questioned by a reporter about “Brittney Griner’s Situation” and he also specifically noted “I don’t think I’ve seen anything from you on that.”

Mulkey immediately dropped a cold-blooded response, saying, “And you won’t.”

As soon as her statement went public, the backlash came pouring in.  Some folks aren’t even shocked, since there have been rumors circulating about Mulkey and her handling of LGBTQ+ players, as reported by Outsports.

Considering how significant she was to the coach’s success, this behavior isn’t sitting well with her former players or the basketball world.  Griner played for Mulkey for four years, and lead them to two Final Fours and one national championship.

Show a little compassion, lady.
