Actress Ari Groover found herself in a hairy situation on Friday while performing as an understudy on Broadway, playing Tina Turner in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical. Groover went to Instagram to share a clip of the moment where her wig fell off as she was singing and performing Turner’s signature dance moves from the 1971 hit “Proud Mary,” E! Online reports.

The actress didn’t miss a beat after her wig fell off. She simply picked up the wig from the floor, threw it to the side and continued with the show. The crowd immediately responded with applause as Groover proceeded with her performance.

“And sometimes you just gotta dance your wig right on off!!!! 😂😂😂!!! This Tina was LIVE HUNEY!!! Keep ya posted on the next time I am Tina…until then come see,” the Broadway performer wrote on Instagram, according to E! Online.

When she went to Twitter to express her excitement about her Broadway role, Grooves said she normally plays as Alline, Tina’s sister.

“I truly suck at being on Twitter, but this week was Amazing!” she wrote. “I got the chance to play Tina on Bway! I normally play Alline (Tina’s sister) in the show…..so this was very exciting!”

Grooves’ fans also followed up with praise on social media.

Writer Ryan McPhee said, “Ari Groover blew the roof off the Lunt-Fontanne tonight as Tina and then blew the wig off her head.”

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical originally opened in 2019. The show, however, shut down during the pandemic and reopened in October. The musical has earned 12 Tony Award nominations.
