Cam Newton has responded to Shannon Sharpe‘s recent comments about Newton’s confidence in being one of the best quarterbacks NFL teams can have on their roster.
In the last few years, the tide for Newton’s career as an in-demand quarterback turned after multiple injuries. The high hopes most had for the player slowly faded as people started to compare where he is now skill-wise to where he once was as an athlete. Many believe he doesn’t have the same level of talent anymore, which often happens in the careers of some of the greatest football players, depending on the obstacles they face.
The last time the athlete played was when he returned to the North Carolina Panthers halfway through the 2021 season, but the team didn’t offer him a new contract after it. Determined to play in the league again, Cam Newton said, “Ain’t 32 motherf**kers better than me,” when comparing how his talent stacks up with current NFL quarterbacks, according to ESPN.

Newton announced he would participate in his alma mater’s Pro Day at Auburn University on Tuesday to show off his skills, where he threw more than 30 passes to up-and-coming Auburn players, ESPN reported.
In response to the former NFL player’s comments, Sharpe gave honest feedback about Newton based on the stats surrounding his career on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed.
As the video below shows, Sharpe called Newton “random” and said it isn’t 2015 anymore.
As ClutchPoints reported, Sharpe called Newton “one of those randoms,” in response to a comment by Newton, in which he said, “Wow, these randoms keep getting jobs.”

The Heisman Trophy winner caught wind of the commentator’s comments and admitted agreeing with some of Sharpe’s remarks but believes he can make a comeback.
