In 60 seconds you can send a tweet, stream a live video on YouTube, make a new friend on Facebook and even register to vote.

Thanks to Snapchat and their partnership with the non-profit, TurboVote, users of the most popular social media platform today can easily register by clicking on the Stories feature on their smartphones. The application will direct users to the integrated TurboVote web page on the app and make registering to vote as easy as swiping for your favorite filter. The intent of the TurboVote campaign was explained by a Snapchat spokesperson to Mashable.com. They stated:

“Our country’s democracy thrives on participation. But you can’t participate unless you register to vote. We hope this effort amplifies our community’s voice come November.”

Bringing the power of voter registration to handheld devices was a smart move by Snapchat due to the fact that on any given day, around 41 percent of all millennial Americans use the app to share videos and photos of their day-to-day activities.

A few celebs including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ciara have used the platform to encourage users to use TurboVote as well. If you aren’t registered to vote yet, the TurboVote sign-up feature is active until Oct. 7 so the next time you’re browsing through Snapchat’s latest filters, take a minute to also register to vote.
