Halle Berry stars in CBS’ new Steven Spielberg-produced futuristic thriller series Extant, which debuts on Wednesday, July 9, at 9/8c.
The actress has lined up what will likely be her next project – another kidnapping thriller (see her last feature film, The Call), titled, simply, Kidnap.
The project is being shopped at the Cannes Film Market (Marche du Film), which kicked off yesterday, where it’s being repped by Lotus Entertainment.
This time however, Berry will not play a 911 operator who takes it upon herself to track down a kidnapped girl (as she did in The Call), but will instead play a mother who will stop at nothing to rescue her kidnapped son.
Berry will executive produce with her producing partner, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, via their 606 Films production banner, which she launched earlier this year to produce “socially conscious” work, in the spirit of the company’s name (after the anti-paparazzi bill that Berry pushed, which California Gov. Jerry Brown signed it into law last fall).
Spanish filmmaker Luis Prieto (Pusher) is attached to direct with Di Bonaventura producing.
