Jenna Ryan, the Capitol rioter who will soon begin her 60-day prison sentence for her role in the Jan. 6 attack, went to social media this week to shamelessly gloat about her upcoming incarceration. In a video posted on TikTok, Ryan said she plans to get to her “ideal weight” while she’s incarcerated.
“I'm going to prison in three weeks," the rioter said. "The only thing that I can see that’s good about having to go to prison is that I’m going to be able to workout a lot, and do a lot of yoga and detox.”
She then detailed her expectations for the meal plan in prison.
“And also I can’t eat because the food is awful, and there’s just no food. So, hopefully they have, like, some protein shakes and some protein bars I think? Because you don’t want to eat like green bologna, that’s what they have to eat,” she said. "I'm gonna end up losing weight in prison and everyone is telling me I'll lose weight. So hopefully I'll finally get down to my ideal weight."
After stepping on a scale to show off her weight, Ryan told her followers that she won’t have access to alcohol and “stupid stuff” like potato chips. She then vowed to lose 30 pounds in two months.
“If I do that, then it’ll be worth going to prison for 60 days,” she said. “If I can lose 30 pounds, it would be so worth it. So, you have to look at the bright side of everything you do, and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Naturally, social media users summed up the rioter's attitude as another example of "white privilege."
When I think of white privilege, this is what I think of.

Ryan's video confirmed to people that she doesn't have much remorse for her actions on Jan. 6.
I love how you've learned nothing from all of this. It's just stunning.

Following the backlash, Ryan posted another video in an attempt to explain herself.
“I am going to go through hell, it’s going to be awful going to prison,” she said, adding that her previous post was an attempt “to look at the bright side of everything.”
“The only benefit of going to prison is that I’ll be able to read books — that’s all there is to do: read books and work out,” she said.
The rioter was arrested earlier this year after going to social media to brag about her criminal actions, HuffPost reports. Previously, Ryan proclaimed that she wasn't going to prison because she has “blonde hair white skin a great job [and] a great future.”
