An Instagram user sought out Black female celebrities who've been showing off their luxury Birkin bag collections, implying their bags were fake.
An account under the moniker @CelestialThug took to the popular social media platform to pen an inherently anti-Black message about Cardi B’s love for the trendy luxury bags.

“Sorry idc if this comes off as anti black but it is what it is. Birkins have literally lost their value. The city girls and Cardi have got y’all convinced that these birkin bags are easy to get. There’’s a certain number of Birkin’s that are made per year,” the post read.
“There are BILLIONAIRES who are spending months/years on a waiting list just to get one. These bags are supposed to be exclusive, and you’re supposed to be big in the fashion world and have relationships with these people to get one: that’s why rihanna has a birkin bag that was only made twice, with Beyoncé having the other one,” the post continued.
The post referenced the value of Birkin bags being diminished partly due to the heightened popularity of the bags by Black female rappers. Additionally, the message pushed the narrative that Black celebrities are rocking fake bags.
“A little rap duo from Miami who can’t even land a vogue cover or a number #1 do not have authentic birkin bags sorry,” the post concluded.
Despite the Instagram user’s post, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker clapped back with a poignant message.
“So I had this convo with my team about this topic after seeing this viral tweet …what do you guys think? Watch till the end,” the caption read.
“Why is it that y’all asking female rappers if they can get a bag from the Hermès store,” Cardi B asked. “Y’all don’t do this to these white celebrities. Why is it that y’all gotta be asking us? What the f**k? It just makes you wanna brag, like, ‘B***h, do you know who the f**k you’re talking to?’ I’m not even gonna take it there.”
The "WAP" rapper went on to cite examples of how her notability has assisted in the increased sales for luxury fashion, including Louboutin and Balenciaga.
"Actually, we add value. When we mention brands in hip-hop, they s**t go up,” she said. "Sales went up 1,000+ %.”
After the post circulated online, Twitter users came to the entertainer’s defense and sounded off on the post.
Twitter user Yoncerdi made it plain that Cardi B is an A-lister.
“Pls stop acting like Cardi is low celeb when she is an A-lister,” she wrote.

Another user called out the post for being racist and questioned if @CelestialThug could afford the bag herself.
“This is so incredibly racist and tone-deaf. These girls behind these “fashion” accounts always have the most to say when they probably can’t even afford half the brands that they talk down about a celebrity even having. Miss Girl really needs to re-evaluate her place,” the Twitter user wrote.

Twitter user B. Almánzar kept it short and sweet while posting a pic of Cardi B and her stash of luxury bags.
“Stay mad,” she wrote.

The fashionable rapper has an extensive collection of Birkin bags. According to People Magazine, Cardi B has amassed 23 handbags, 15 of which were gifted to her by husband Offset.
