Turns out Cardi B has an emo side to her and still bumps the rock bops that dominated the charts in the early ’00s. According to Teen Vogue, the “Up” rapper took to Twitter to show love to My Chemical Romance.
“They don’t make music like this anymore,” Cardi tweeted on Tuesday alongside a clip of My Chemical Romance’s 2004 hit single “I’m Not Okay (I Promise).”
Fans were quick with the clever comments after the rapper shouted out the band. Some were surprised by Cardi’s love for the band, and others hoped the rapper would be releasing a punk rock track.
“Cardi are you about to be in your emo era?” one user wrote with the eyes emoji.
One person even photoshopped Cardi wearing emo-inspired hair and fit.
“Then make it yourself,” a user tweeted with a hilarious picture of Cardi looking like she belonged in an issue of Teen Beat.

My Chemical Romance caught wind of Cardi’s affectionate shoutout and replied to the tweet, Teen Vogue reports.
“Grazie mille Cardi!” they wrote.
Cardi’s tweet comes ahead of My Chemical Romance’s reunion tour. The band split in 2013 and got back together in 2019. According to Teen Vogue, the band will headline pop-punk music festival When We Were Young in Las Vegas this October. Paramore, Avril Lavigne and Taking Back Sunday will also be performing at the festival.
