Rising music stars Cash Cobain and Monaleo were tapped to headline Max and Spotify’s recent celebration to close out Black Music Month.

Max and Spotify teamed for “Shaped by Sound,” a New York City-based event that offered guests “an immersive journey celebrating the profound connection between music and entertainment.”

Per Max, “the space immersed guests in the world of Max, shedding light on the cultural moments we hold dear as a community—bridging guests with the soundtracks + titles that connect us to these stories.”

Taking place on June 22 at Hall des Lumières in Downtown Manhattan, the immersive experience was open to the public earlier in the day before an invite-only, VIP event at night during which Cash Cobain and Monaleo performed. There were also DJ sets presented by South House NYC.

Rooms within the experience (which were mirrored and had 360-projection technology) included one that showcased iconic concert moments from HBO/Max projects, one with iconic musical moments from HBO/Max and Warner Bros. Television shows and another with iconic quotes from Black sitcoms that are now in the Max library.

In a previous statement, Jackie Gagne, senior vp of multicultural marketing at HBO and Max, said, “Max is thrilled to partner with Spotify for ‘Shaped by Sound,’ an extraordinary celebration of Black Music Month. We’re excited for guests to experience this one-of-a-kind immersive journey for the senses, through projection mapping and transcending sound, to highlight the profound influence of Black music on our culture and innovation.”
