Some casting news…
First, Ruth Negga has joined that cast of HBO’s David Milch drama pilot The Money.
Negga joins an ensemble cast that includes star Brendan Gleeson, Ray Liotta, Mamie Gummer, Homeland ex-star (and soon to be Paul Robeson on the big screen in a biopic) David Harewood, and others.
Money revolves around a powerful media mogul (Gleeson) who uses his power and influence to expand his empire and control his family.
Harewood will play a character named Kurt Corbitt, who’s described as “a grandiose, boisterous, irascible ideologue” who’s the CEO of the parent company Gleeson’s character’s holdings fall under.
Negga has signed up to play a character named Erin Foley, who’s said to be a no-nonsense and stylish senior news editor who reports to Gleeson’s media mogul, James Castman. Hers will also be a series regular role.
Nathan Lane, John Carroll Lynch, Rosemary Harris, Billy Magnussen, Morgan Spector, and Tracee Chimo round out the cast.
Justin Chadwick (Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom) will direct the pilot, from a script penned by Milch, who’ll also executive produce alongside Art and John Linson and Frank Rich.
No ETA yet.
And second, Edi Gathegi, who very recently joined the cast of the upcoming 5th season of FX’s Justified, to play a character named Jean Baptiste, described as a former member of the Haitian secret police who runs the Crowe family gator farm, has booked a role in an indie thriller feature titled Shiva And May.
Jessica Biel stars alongside Zosia Mamet (Girls), in a film about two long-lost sisters reuniting – one, Jessica’s character, is a yoga instructor who finds herself doing things she never thought she was capable of to try to protect her newly-discovered sister, who happens to be a sex worker – Zosia’s character – from a terrible boyfriend.
No word on what Gathegi’s role here is, however.
Joe Anderson and Kate Burton round out the cast.
Super Crispy is producing the film, which is currently shooting in Los Angeles.
