– Ving Rhames and Katt Williams has joined Ed Helms, Owen Wilson, J.K. Simmons and Terry Bradshaw in Alcon Entertainment’s comedy “Bastards,” the directorial debut of cinematographer Larry Sher (the “Hangover” films), which will see Simmons and former pro football player Bradshaw, who will play himself, as potential father figures to Wilson and Helms’ characters, who are brothers whose eccentric mother raised them to believe their father died when they were young. When they find out it’s a lie, they set out to find their real father. No word on what roles Rhames and Williams have signed up to play.
– Richard Roundtree has booked a recurring role on NBC’s upcoming new action-drama series "The Player," which stars Philip Winchester and Wesley Snipes. The Las Vegas-set thriller centers on a former military operative turned security expert who is drawn into a high-stakes game where an organization of wealthy individuals gamble on his ability to stop some of the biggest crimes imaginable from playing out. Roundtree will plays a mentor to Snipes’ character.
– Kimrie Lewis-Davis has booked a recurring role in MTV’s currently-untitled Nicole Byer Project, in which Byer portrays a young adult who is forced to move in with her polar opposite older sister. Lewis-Davis will play the older sister who has four kids.
– Aaron Moten has been cast in a recurring role on Amazon’s comedy "Mozart In The Jungle." Based on the memoir by Blair Tindal, the series, written by Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Alex Timbers, is all about what happens behind the curtains at a symphony, which can be just as captivating as what happens onstage. Moten will play Erik Winkelstrauss, a wealthy and charming banker bound to shake some things up at the Symphony.
– Octavia Spencer has joined the cast of director Marc Webb’s Fox Searchlight drama "Gifted," which tells the story of Frank Adler (played by Chris Evans), a deliberate underachiever who is raising his niece Mary (McKenna Grace) in rural Florida. When he enrolls her in school for the first time, she is labeled as “gifted.” All Frank wants is for Mary to have a normal life, but standing in his way is her grandmother Evelyn and the dilemma that he doesn’t have custody of the child. He decides to take legal action. Spencer plays Roberta Taylor, the outspoken landlord of Frank and a good friend to both him and Mary.
– And finally, Cedric Yarbrough has joined the cast of the Will Ferrell-Amy Poehler New Line comedy titled "The House," from director Andrew Jay Cohen, which revolves around a couple who blow their daughter’s college fund then start a casino in their suburban basement to win back the money – and their kid’s respect. Yarbrough will play Reggie Henderson, a hardworking suburban husband and father who has suppressed and hidden his feelings of pressure from work and family life. His plan for de-stressing? Neighborhood gambling.
