I just read some interesting casting suggestions by Michael Logan, editor-in-chief of Moviephone, in this ABC News article.
The untitled film, directed by Best Movie Oscar winner The Hurt Locker‘s Kathryn Bigelow, with a screenplay penned by Mark Boal; will chronicle the 10-year search for Osama bin Laden, and already has a tentative release date of Oct. 12, 2012.
Setting side all the latest political controversies surrounding this production, I would like to share some of Logan’s casting suggestions with you guys and perhaps discuss our very own here.
Osama bin Laden – John Torturro, Jeff Goldblum, Lebanese actor Tony Shalhoub and even Scottie Pippen‘s name came up! I never thought of John Torturro. Although this could be a very challenging for him, it seems plausible considering the rest of the choices.
But you never know…..breakthrough first acting role for retired NBA player Scottie Pippen? 🙂
President Barack Obama – okay, the article suggests Denzel Washington. It’s a given, Washington has the acting chops, but I could see Will Smith in the role, but then I always thought of Smith trying to come up with actors that could play Obama on the screen. *shrugs*
Navy Seals Team– Joel Edgerton has signed on to play the Navy Seal that ultimately kills bin Laden. The other suggestions along with Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner are Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Anthony Mackie. I don’t know about the others but I definitely hope Mackie is part of this project.
Last but not least, Jeffrey Wright as the one-eyed Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar?? I love Jeffrey Wright, he can do anything in my book but I don’t know about this.. hmm..
Check out the rest of the suggestions for Bill Clinton (John Travolta?), Hillary Clinton (Meryl Streep?), Joe Biden and others HERE.
Thoughts?
