Charles Dutton and Aldis Hodge have joined the cast of Midnight Rider, the Gregg Allman biopic which also features Tyson Ritter and William Hurt playing the younger and older Allman, respectively.
Wyatt Russell, Eliza Dushku, Bradley Whitford, Joel David Moore, Zoey Deutch, Kathy Bates and Chad Lindberg are also cast members of the project which hails from Unclaimed Freight Productions.
In Midnight Rider, Gregg Allman’s journey from struggling artist to The Allman Brothers Band, and all the excesses that followed, will be in focus.
Dutton will play Chank Middleton, Gregg’s best friend, confidant and assistant, with Hodge will play a younger version of the character (Chank Middleton).
Shooting is set to start later this month, in Savannah, GA, with Randall Miller directing from a script penned by Miller and his Unchained Freight Productions partner, Jody Savin, who are also producing.
Open Road Films will distribute domestically.
