Chiwetel Ejiofor and Anthony Mackie are part of an ensemble cast in director John Hillcoat’s (The Road) crime drama "Triple 9," alongside Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus and others, in a story that revolves around an L.A. heist in which a group of thieves plan to kill a cop (a "Code 999" in police parlance) to divert authorities from their own crime scene across town. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck finale tangled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.
Keith Redmon, Brad Dorros and Steve Golin of Anonymous Content are producers of the movie, which Megan Ellison financed through her Panorama Media production company.
Triple 9 opens on February 19th, 2016.
Both Ejiofor and Mackie are enjoying active careers at the moment, combining for roles in as many as 8 different feature films in 2015. Ejiofor can currently be seen in "The Martian," with a lead role in "Secret in Their Eyes" next, which is out in November. Mackie appeared in both "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Ant-Man" earlier this year, and will next be seen in "Our Brand Is Crisis" with Sandra Bullock, at the end of October.
