Chloe x Halle are flying high after the release of their debut album, and they credit their mentor, Beyoncé, with guiding them on their journey.

The teens sat down with Vulture and NYLON to discuss their career, creative process and relationship with Queen Bey, who signed them to her Parkwood Entertainment label.

According to the sisters, they were given creative freedom that isn’t typically given to new artists.

“[Beyoncé] said to us, ‘Let the world catch up to you, because what you’re doing is outstanding, and it’s needed in the world right now,’” 18-year-old Halle said to NYLON.

Chloe, 19, echoed her sister’s sentiments in Vulture.

“I feel very fortunate because we’re given this incredible platform with Beyoncé and [her label] Parkwood, but we’re still able to use our voices and tell the story that we want to tell and create the music we want to create,” said Chloe. “Beyoncé has always encouraged us to trust our intuition. I’m so grateful because some artists are not able to do that, but we are and it means the world to us.”

The duo was signed by Beyoncé after she caught a glimpse of their cover of her song "Pretty Hurts" in 2013. Chloe portrayed a younger version of the singer in the movie "The Fighting Temptations." Signing to Parkwood was a dream come true for the girls, but they were still savvy about their decision.

“So number one, we were freaking out, like screaming, jumping on the couches, all of that,” Chloe said to NYLON. “And then, the second thing we said was, ‘Why do they need to know if we’re signed to post it?’ We were, like, thinking about that, trying to read into everything.”

Another thing the girls learned from Beyoncé was confidence.

“Watching her over the years, I’ve seen how grateful and gracious she is,” Halle said. “She also really knows her self-worth and power and, as young person, that’s personally been really inspiring. I look to her and can say, “If she can feel like she’s worthy and beautiful, then I can too.”

Chloe agrees.

“For me, 'Lemonade' broke so many barriers," she said. "It instilled confidence in so many women, even older women. I still love it. From the music to the visuals, she’s a genius.’

Their debut album "The Kids Are Alright," was released with an accompanying short film on March 23 and according to Chloe, Beyoncé is more than pleased.

“She said she loved it! And I’m just so happy because if I know Beyoncé loved it, then that’s the only stamp of approval I need, except for my parents and little brother,” she said. “It even made my heart warm when she said she loved the short film. We like making her proud.”
