Another day, another story about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars…and another one of Chris Rock’s family members talking about it.
According to Rolling Out, Kenny Rock has a deal with Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman to do a match this summer. Rock said he would like to take on Smith himself in the ring after he slapped his brother Chris on the Oscars stage over a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s hair.
"…I should get in the ring with Will Smith," he said after being asked if his brother and Smith should duke it out in the ring. He added that he believes he can "take Will down."
When asked about his brother’s well-being post-slap, Rock said that he’s “doing great.”
“…I should get in the ring with Will Smith,” he said after being asked if his brother and Smith should duke it out in the ring. He added that he believes he can “take Will down.”
Rock previously talked about Smith and his brother’s altercation to The Los Angeles Times, saying how he didn’t accept Smith’s apology and felt it wasn’t genuine.
"I think his publicist and the people that work under him probably advised him to do that," he said, adding that he didn't believe his brother would make a joke about Pinkett-Smith's alopecia if he knew about her condition."
At this point, a celebrity match seems like a cash grab on what has been a trying situation for everyone involved. Smith has already received punishment from the Academy in the form of not being allowed to attend the awards ceremony for 10 years. It is unlikely that Smith would seek further degradation by agreeing to do a celebrity boxing match based on his lowest moment.
In other words, let’s move on, somehow.
