Courtney Clenney, the OnlyFans model who was charged with second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing and killing her boyfriend Christian Obumseli in April 2022, is now facing a lawsuit from family members who are demanding her to pay for the expenses they racked up after their loved one died.
According to TMZ, the family is suing Clenney and others for negligence related to Obumseli’s death.
Obumseli’s loved ones are demanding Clenney to pay for the heavy expenses they accumulated, including funeral costs and other needs. The family is also suing the luxury Miami apartment where the stabbing took place and its security team, the New York post reported.
Clenney’s attorney, Frank Prieto, said “the Estate is seeking wrongful death damages in hopes of getting a huge payout.”
“It is important to note that the Plaintiff (Estate of Obumseli) filed suit against the security company, building management company, and the owner’s [sic] of the apartment that Courtney rented,” Prieto told TMZ. “These companies have very high limits on their insurance policies. Courtney has no assets that the Estate can collect on.”
The attorney adds that his client “will defend this civil matter as vigorously as the pending criminal case.”
“Courtney was a victim of domestic violence and her actions the evening of April 3, 2022 were taken to save her life,” he said. “Once she is vindicated in the criminal matter, the civil case will also fall apart.”
Clenney was arrested four months after Obumseli’s death. The model said she threw the knife at her boyfriend in self-defense during an argument.
