Shadow and Act has the exclusive new trailer for Cinnamon, starring Hailey Kilgore, David Iacono, Damon Wayans and Pam Grier ahead of its world premiere at the Tribeca film festival later this month.
Describe as an ode to classic blaxploitation films of the past featuring the genre’s queen, Pam Grier, the Tubi film was written, directed, and executive produced by Bryian Keith Montgomery Jr.
The film is Montgomery Jr.’s directorial debut.
It is the first feature project from Village Roadshow Productions’s Black Noir Cinema banner, which Kevin Garnett co-founded. It is produced in association with FOX Entertainment Studios.
After its Tribeca premiere, the film will hit Tubi later in the summer.
Oz Scott is a producer on the project for Content Cartel, with Mike Marangu, Brian Bennett, Michael D. Jones, and Kevin Garnett serving as executive producers.
Here’s the official synopsis:
A struggling small-town gas station attendant, Jodi (Tony Nominee Hailey Kilgore, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan”) is an aspiring and truly gifted singer. Frustrated and stuck in a dead-end job with her dreams slipping away, Jodi meets a young hustler who quickly becomes her fiercely devoted boyfriend (David Iacono, “The Summer I Turned Pretty”). Desperate for a new life and eager to jumpstart Jodi’s singing career, they decide to commit a crime together, but their plan quickly goes sideways.
Thinking they have made it through the worst of it, Jodi and Eddie have unknowingly unleashed a spiraling chain of events that quickly makes them the target of a ruthless family run crime organization, with Jodi’s boss Wally (Damon Wayans, “Lethal Weapon”) at the center. Mama (Pam Grier, “Foxy Brown”) and her son James (Jeremie Harris, “Legion”) will stop at nothing to find out what went wrong. As James begins to uncover the truth, no one is safe and secrets begin to be revealed leading to a deadly showdown where Jodi and Eddie must answer for their crime.
