50 Cent’s years-long feud with fellow rapper Papoose has reignited just in time for the new year, and now the latter’s girlfriend, boxing champion Claressa Shields, has entered the chat. According to The Grio, the 30-year-old professional fighter clapped back at the Sean Combs: The Reckoning executive, who hurled several insults Shields’ way amid his beef with Papoose, on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday. Here’s what she said and why 50 Cent and Papoose’s beef reignited in 2026.
50 Cent kicked off a recent string of online insults with an AI-edited video of Shields and Papoose
On Dec. 31, the Power alum shared an AI-edited video of a 1976 Blaxploitation film Black Sister’s Revenge (theatrically released as Emma Mae) featuring Papoose and Shields as the characters in a scene from the movie: Jesse Amos and Emma Mae, HotNewHipHop reported. In the clip, Shields as Mae confronts Papoose as Amos about not loving her back and she slaps him, likely referencing the “Counting Green” rapper allegedly hitting comedian Gerald Huston with a book after he joked about Shields.
“Now you see that, that’s assault! You can’t just go around putting your hands on PEOPLE. LOL,” 50 Cent captioned his post.
Papoose responded with his own AI-generated video of 50 Cent dancing on a couch in a club in women’s clothing.
“No No No stop deflecting Curtis,” Pap wrote in the post’s caption. “The world is STILL waiting for ya response to Fab & them. You from southside do something ? Fight or flight ? Holla if you need a ghostwriter Champ… I mean Chump!”
50 Cent quickly shared Papoose’s video on Instagram: “Look what Pap posted 😆Hahaha, that look like one of his joints all his hoe’s handsome. They tougher than him 😟 LOL.”
The rappers continued to take shots at each other and shared mocking edited videos on social media.
50 Cent even brought up Papoose’s ex Remy Ma, sharing an old clip of the “Lean Back” rapper in which she said, “[My] ex might be the least income-making person that I’ve ever been with. Ever.”
“That’s why Claressa gotta buy her own 🎁,” he wrote in the caption.
Shields called out 50 Cent’s harassment in several social media posts
Shields was not a fan of 50 Cent sharing the old clip of Remy Ma and shared a cryptic message on X, formerly known as Twitter, that many thought was directed at the rapper.
“These rappers don’t get they a*s beat enough that’s the problem,” she wrote.
The boxer called out 50 Cent more directly in a follow-up message, writing, “Mfs ain’t never been the best in their field no matter what era of their career! So 50 can stfu for real!”
The two continued to insult each other online, with 50 Cent claiming he tried to avoid the boxer during a performance at a recent event. Shields shared a full video of the moment the rapper was referring to and explained that he invited her to the event.
According to Hollywood Unlocked, 50 Cent later posted a picture of a young Shields with the caption, “Ok the truth is I’m a Claressa Shields fan, think she is an amazing fighter, and she got a big fight coming up, so I’m gonna chill and let her focus, let’s go champ!”
Shields responded, condemning the “ugly narrative” she feels is imposed on her by 50 Cent and others.
She wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Please…. Y’all wanna run with the ugly narrative so bad! I was 17 years old fighting for my entire country and had a OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL AROUND MY NECK! Of course I glowed up! And I’m going to always be focused No matter what! LIKE ALWAYS!”
She added in a later message, “Boy y’all hate everything about Blackness. Being Black, Black women, Black support, Black unity, Black noses, Black a***s. It’s really sad,” she wrote, adding the peach emoji. “I’m never joining the hate train of my own people. I didn’t wear a full face of makeup ‘til I was 24 years old. Still Beautiful & Blessed.”
