Former San Francisco 49er and social justice advocate, Colin Kaepernick, has partnered with ice cream magnates, Ben & Jerry's, to launch a new non-dairy frozen treat. Kaepernick shared a photo of the dessert on Thursday morning where he also announced that proceeds from the new collaboration will go to his Know Your Rights Camp (KYRC).

“I’ve teamed up with Ben & Jerry’s to serve up joy on the journey to justice,” he wrote. “Today, we’re excited to introduce Change the Whirled, a new non-dairy flavor that hits shelves in early-2021! 100% of my proceeds will go to Know Your Rights Camp with matching support from Ben & Jerry’s.”

The frozen dessert, appropriately named “Change The Whirled,” features the athlete on its packaging and contains cookies and caramel.

The landing page on Ben & Jerry’s website confirmed the collaboration.

“Colin Kaepernick is serving up sweet justice with the non-dairiest compilation of cookies & caramel. This flavor honors Colin’s activism in pursuit of racial justice & his portion of the proceeds from Change the Whirled™ go to Know Your Rights Camp,” the statement read.

The company also praised the athlete for his continuing role in social justice and shared that their social values align.

“We both care deeply about and focus much of our time and energy on advancing issues of social and racial justice. We both think ice cream creates joy and is a great way to bring people together,” Ben & Jerry's wrote. “And we both are clearly talented enough to start at quarterback right this second for any professional football team.”

The company also shared the news on Twitter, writing that the new flavor is "supporting the fight to dismantle systems of oppression and empower Black and Brown people."

The 33-year-old's KYRC initiative launched in October 2016, as Blavity previously reported. The camp is designed to serve as a “home base and safe space for young folks — particularly Black youth ages 12-18.”

KYRC helps kids learn legalities when navigating police interactions, and it also emphasizes the importance of health, education, tech, self-empowerment and finance.

Kaepernick has been blackballed from the league since beginning his protests against racial injustice in August of 2016. "Change the Whirled" will be coming to a freezer near you in 2021.
