A college football player has died after falling 16 floors from a Pittsburgh building. The young man, identified as Marquis Brown, jumped from student dormitory Brottier Hall after police responded to a disturbance report, FOX DC reports. On Thursday night, campus police responded to an altercation on the 16th floor.
The Duquesne University junior was from Washington, D.C. and studied in the McAnulty College of Liberty Arts, per WPXI. He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
"It is with great sadness that I report that we had a tragedy on campus last night,” university president Ken Gormley sent to students and staff in an official message.

Brown's death occurred the day before the homecoming game.

A school memorial service will be held on Sunday, and Duquesne officials confirmed they would provide counselors as needed.
"Please join me in praying for Marquis, his family, and his many friends and teammates during this time of great sadness for the entire campus community. May he rest in peace,” Gormley added.
