We’ve all heard the rumors, and we’ve seen the fake poster of a ‘Coming 2 America’ circulating on social media two years ago. But finally, Paramount has put their money where their mouth is and has confirmed a sequel is in the works after solidifying original writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield of the 1988 comedy classic.

It still remains unclear whether our beloved Eddie Murphy will make a highly- anticipated return as the legendary Prince Akeem, but we’re hoping for the absolute best.

For those who haven’t seen the timeless film, the original Coming To America tells the story of an African Prince played by Murphy, who leaves his riches and glory behind to search for his queen in New York City.

While the logistics for the film get sorted out, we’ll be watching Coming To America re-runs until further notice.
