Despite a stellar, though still relatively young stage career, and a last name many in the entertainment industry would instantly recognize, the talented Condola Rashad hasn’t yet quite seen a similar embracing on the screen (both big and small), with roles here and there on mostly TV series and TV movies, but nothing yet that’s really put her front and center, and allowed her to shine.

And while these two castings may not immediately rectify that, it’s good to know that there’s some interest from the *inside* in seeing her on the big screen, especially in roles that, on paper, given the other talent involved, should give her even more exposure.

Of course, I’m assuming that she even wants to become more active in film and TV. She may be perfectly content doing theatre primarily, with the occasional film or TV gig.

First, the actress has been cast alongside George Clooney in the Jodie Foster-directed thriller "Money Monster," which follows a rambunctious TV financial analysts who is taken hostage on air, by a man who loses his life savings after following the stock market analyst’s advice.

And second, Rashad has joined the cast of Joshua Marston’s untitled feature film, which already boasts Rachel Weisz, Michael Shannon, Kathy Bates, and Danny Glover as cast members. The film will follow a woman who increasingly believes that she knows the host of a dinner party she’s invited to, but by a different name and a different biography.

Let’s hope that she’s given much to do in each of these films.

Most recently, in 2014, she had a guest role on an episode of the TV series "Elementary." She was also set to play Nefertari in a Fox series titled "Hieroglyph," which was expected to debut on the network’s lineup this current TV season. But it was canceled before a single episode aired.
