nullCuba Gooding Jr has inked a deal with 20th Century Fox TV to develop a half-hour comedy set in a boxing gym, based on his own love of the sport, which will be co-executive produced by Gooding alongside Jason Winer‘s Small Dog Picture Company, although whether Gooding will also star in the project isn’t public yet.

The untitled project will be set in a newly-gentrified neighborhood, in a gym where pro boxers, along with amateurs and wannabes, gather to practice.

Screenwriting duties are out to potential writers, as a search for a showrunner is underway as well.

No other information is available at this time.

Gooding can next be seen in Clement Virgo’s much-anticipated film adaptation of author Lawrence Hill’s award-winning bestseller, "The Book of Negroes," will premiere at MIPCOM at Cannes, on October 13 as the opening night gala. It’ll then head to BET in early 2015.
