After almost two years of marriage, Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Cynthia Bailey has filed for divorce from Mike Hill. After much social media speculation, the 55-year-old supermodel and 52-year-old Fox Sports commentator officially confirmed that they are calling it quits. The former pair released a joint statement to Entertainment Tonight.
“LOVE is a beautiful thing. While we both will always have love for one another, we have decided to go our separate ways,” they shared in the exclusive joint statement. “No one is to blame, and we are grateful that we remain good friends. We will always cherish the many memories we’ve shared together as husband and wife. Many of you have been on this journey with us from the very beginning, and we appreciate our family, friends and beloved fans for your positive support as we move forward and start new chapters. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes!”
Shortly after the statement was released, Bailey and Hill made a joint post with the same message on their Instagram accounts. Using a photo that seemed more fit for an engagement announcement, the two seem to be at peace with their decision.
While the picture and message seem pretty amicable, there’s still some speculation that trouble has been brewing in paradise for some time now.
A source told Entertainment Tonight, “Cynthia and Mike have been having issues for a while and tried working on things but weren’t able to come to a resolution. The two have been busy with work and it wasn’t easy on their relationship.”
The couple also publicly worked through their share of ups and downs during their marriage.
In November 2021, an anonymous Twitter user claimed Hill sent her flirtatious messages and a picture of his p***s via Snapchat, TheJasmineBrand reports.
As reported by TMZ, the couple denied the allegations, and Hill considered potentially taking legal action in the future.
Two months later, Bailey announced her departure from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, explaining that she decided to leave the show to protect her marriage.
Bailey spoke with Page Six to explain her reason for departing.
“After going through my divorce with my ex [Peter Thomas], I’m very protective of my second marriage because, you know, I really want it to work, and I want to do everything that I can to protect it and to protect Mike,” she told the outlet.
Bailey and Hill became romantically linked in late 2018 after Bailey’s divorce from her first husband, Peter Thomas, in 2016.
Shortly after she confirmed her relationship with Hill, Bailey told Bravo, “If I can’t make it with Mike Hill, then I’m just meant to be single for the rest of my life.”
Unfortunately, the demise of their relationship was just around the corner, but while the rest of the world was in the dark about their split, these two seemed to be living it up.
Before the official announcement, The Shade Room posted footage of Hill in a compromising position with another woman at a bar.
