“Funkdafied” rapper and reality TV star Da Brat is expanding her family, Billboard reports.
The 47-year-old lyricist and her fiancée Jesseca "Judy” Dupart took to Instagram to post that the couple is expecting their first child together.
“We are EXTENDING the family,” the rapper captioned a picture of her with her arms wrapped around Dupart’s stomach.
In March 2020, Dupree and Da Brat went public with their relationship, which also put rumors to rest regarding the rapper’s sexuality.
“I’ve always been a kind of private person until I met my heart’s match who handles some things differently than I do,” the radio host wrote in the post, according to Billboard. “Thank you baby @darealbbjudy for far more than this incredible birthday gift. I have never experienced this feeling. It’s so overwhelming that often I find myself in a daze hoping to never get pinched to see if it’s real so I can live in this dream forever.”
Da Brat said she was actually relieved by the responses she received from her hip-hop colleagues after officially coming out, the Advocate reports.
“The reaction made me feel like, ‘Why didn’t I do this shit years ago?'” she told Variety. “There were some people saying, ‘We knew it.’ Well, good for you! Now I know it, and I’m able to say it. I did this on my own terms.”
