The internet believes LisaRaye McCoy said she didn’t know about her sister Da Brat and wife Jesseca Dupart’s expanding family until she saw it on the internet, but Dupart is saying something different.
According to Page Six, the controversy happened because of a 2022 podcast episode of It’s Tricky with Raquel Harper. In the interview, she said that she learned of her sister and sister-in-law’s plans to expand their family on social media. She said, “I know you grown, but dang. I wanna marvel in your happiness ’cause that’s what it’s about.”
She also said she felt “a certain kind of way” about being left out, adding, “I did see the reveal of them expecting and expanding their family and I didn’t know anything about it as well. I do realize that when people grow up…even in this situation when you find a partner, you find a good thing and you’re supposed to cling to that partner. I get that. But it’s supposed to be also a bonus. It’s supposed to be an add-on, not a subtraction.”
To quell the rumors, Dupart went to The Shade Room, writing, “THIS IS A LIE! SHADEROOM Please check the date on this interview and the accuracy, this is just honestly not a good time as her mom just passed…Let’s keep Lisa Ray in our prayers […]” Dupart referenced LisaRaye’s mother Katie McCoy, who died from an unknown illness Feb. 10, according to Page Six.
Harper herself also wrote about the allegations in her Instagram stories.
“The interview I did with @therealray1 is from months ago not today…I only posted because I thought it was from a story today and that my interview was just getting brought up from something currently.”
Dupart and Da Brat’s relationship were explored in the WE tv reality series Brat Loves Judy. Throughout the series, LisaRaye was a prominent figure, particularly in episodes revolving around their estranged relationship.
