Damar Hamlin, the Buffalo Bills player still fighting for his life after collapsing during Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, appears to be making progress in his recovery at the hospital. According to CNN, Hamlin’s uncle relayed positive news, saying the 24-year-old seems to be “trending upwards in a positive way.”

ESPN reporter Coley Harvey also provided an update about the NFL safety on Wednesday. Harvey wrote that he spoke with Hamlin’s family friend Jordon Rooney and learned that doctors had delivered encouraging news.

“Per Jordon and Damar’s family, doctors overnight got promising readings that they had been hoping to see by this morning,” Harvey tweeted. “Jordon couldn’t go into specifics, but progress appears to be made.”

The ESPN reporter added that Hamlin is “still sedated and in critical condition in the ICU.”

“Jordon also clarified (on behalf of the family) that there may have been some miscommunications in terms of the number of times Damar Hamlin was resuscitated,” Harvey wrote. “There was only one instance at Paycor Stadium.”

As Blavity previously reported, Hamlin collapsed after making a tackle. Players from both teams were emotional while emergency medical personnel rushed to save the young man’s life on the field. Fans prayed and waited silently at the stadium until Hamlin was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The NFL eventually decided to postpone Monday’s game.

Fans have been showing their support by donating to Hamlin’s toy drive, the initiative he started when he was playing at the University of Pittsburgh in 2020. The Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive, which Hamlin launched to give back to children in his hometown of McKees Rocks, Philadelphia, has now reached over $4 million.
