The moment finally happened!
Snowfall star Damson Idris has finally met Denzel Washington, bringing a conclusion to the ongoing saga of Washington not knowing who Idris is.
The saga started in 2022, when a reporter on the red carpet for A Journal For Jordan asked Washington what he thought about Idris since he auditioned to play his son in Fences. The reporter also said how fans of Snowfall compare Idris to Washington. Washington responded that he hadn’t heard of Idris, but meant no disrespect.
Fast forward to Thursday on the set of Good Morning America, where Idris is promoting Snowfall‘s final season. Idris said that he finally got a chance to meet Washington at the Lakers basketball game.
“It was huge, man. It was a big moment for me,” he told Michael Strahan. “I went to see [the] Timberwolves versus the Lakers, and he was sat on the edge. I didn’t get to meet him, he snuck off and then, two days later, I watch [the] Warriors versus [the] Lakers, and I’m like, ‘Ah, he’s gonna sneak off again.’ He walks my direction, he goes to shake all of the news people’s hands, he’s walking right by me, and I’m like, ‘I gotta say something.'”
Idris tells him who he is, leading Washington to put the pieces together.
“I go, ‘It’s Damson Idris,’ and he remembers last year when I was getting cooked and he goes, ‘Aye, my boy!’…It was cool man, it was fun. Full circle moment.”
