Things that make you go hmm… 

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times posted earlier today, actor, model and Dancing With The Stars alum William Levy reveals that he'll be starring in an upcoming Tyler Perry movie – a romantic comedy, although he doesn't give away much.

Here's the important piece of the convo:

LA TIMES: So, what are you working on right now?

LEVY: Right now, I feel very blessed, let me tell you, because I had a meeting with Tyler Perry a couple weeks ago and now I have the opportunity to lead in one of his next projects, which starts filming in September. It’s a romantic comedy and, you know, I love love.

LA TIMES: Tell us about your role

LEVY: I can’t. I can’t. I wish I could! It’s very nice. Very good. Not allowed to say more.

LA TIMES: Ah. Well, Tyler Perry. Are you a fan?

LEVY: Absolutely! I respect the guy a lot. He comes from nothing, you know? He worked his way up, which I respect a lot. It’s very nice I have the chance to work with him.

So there ya go; William Levy will be starring in a Tyler Perry project that starts shooting in September – that's just 2 months away, and we haven't reported on any new Tyler Perry projects, other than those that have already been made, and are due to be released in coming months. 

Unless I'm just completely blanking out on something.

Looking over his IMDBPro page, the only project that Perry has yet to shoot is Take My Wife, which was announced last year, and which he's supposed to star alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The story centers on a recently-divorced man who tries to avoid paying alimony, by grooming another dude to become his ex's new husband. Tyler Perry is listed as writer and director as well; although it's not known which of the 2 men he'll play, although I can take a guess.

Could this be the film that William Levy is referring to? Could it be that maybe Dwayne Johnson is no longer attached (he has a whole bunch of films on his schedule already, as we've reported here, so maybe he dropped out of this one, which is possible), and Levy is taking his place?

The last project update on the film on its IMDBPro page was in May, and it said it was still in the script phase. But given how Tyler Perry cranks out screenplays and films, it could very well be complete, or close to final draft.

Unless there's an entirely new Tyler Perry project that we know absolutely nothing about. One thing I do recall is that, last fall, Perry said that while shooting Alex Cross, he apparently had a lot of time between takes and shooting days that he ended up writing scripts for 2 more movies during those down periods.

"It was like a vacation, actually… I had so much down time on set that I ended up writing two movies," he said. And what are/were those 2 movies he penned? No word yet still today; at the time, word was that they were "in the early stages."

Could this William Levy project be one of them?

With filming scheduled to begin in September (according to Mr Levy anyway), we should find out soon enough!

By the way, per his IMDB page, fans of VH1's Single Ladies probably already know that Levy has appeared in 2 epidodes of that series.
