Disney has announced the main cast of its upcoming holiday comedy film, Dashing Through the Snow.
According to Deadline, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Teyonah Parris, and Lil Rel Howery will star in the film, set to be directed and executive produced by Tim Story. The film also features Oscar Nunez, Ravi Patel, Marcus Lewis, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Madison Skye Validum. Production is starting in Atlanta, and the film will come to Disney+ next year. The film will be written by Scott Rosenberg.
Will Packer is adding to his resume with this film; he is producing the film via his Will Packer Productions along with Smart Entertainment founder John Jacobs.
Along with Story, executive producers include Johanna Byer, Zac Unterman and Ross Fanger.
The story is very much like a new take on the classic Ebeneezer Scrooge-type character. The film follows a divorced social social worker who works employed by the Atlanta police department. He hates Christmas because of something that happened to him in his childhood.
"When sent on a call while spending Christmas Eve with his daughter, he inadvertently evokes the wrath of a local politician," wrote Deadline about the logline, "but meets a man who helps him understand the joy and magic of Christmas."
Bridges is currently headlining several projects; at Discovery+, he has a cooking show called Luda Can’t Cook. Meanwhile, at Netflix, he executive produces the animated musical show Karma’s World and is set to star opposite Queen Latifah in the Netflix action/thriller End of the Road.
Parris is set to star in the upcoming Marvel/Disney film 'The Marvels,' also starring Brie Larson and Iman Vellani.
The Marvels is directed by Nia DaCosta (who also directed Parris in Candyman) and will also introduce Korean television and film star Park Seo-joon (Parasite and popular series What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Itaewon Class, and Record of Youth). He’s rumored to play comic book character Yan of Aladna.
