Fresh off the success of maybe this summers strongest flick, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, British thespian David Oyelowo is in talks to join Tom Cruise in the thriller One Shot, which is based on the series of books by Lee Child, which “follows Jack Reacher, a former military policeman turned drifter…” investigating … a case where a sniper is accused of murdering five people before being captured.

Oyelowo will play a veteran homicide detective also investigating the sniper and incident which takes place in a mall.

Christopher McQuarrie, primarily a screenwriter, will direct from a his own adapted script.

Oyelowo’s in an actor in demand – aside from Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, he also had a part in another summer hit, The Help, and is shooting The Paperboy with Lee Daniels, and the George Lucas-produced Red Tails comes out in a few months, and, of couse, he’s co-starring in Ava DuVernay’s sophomore effort, Middle Of Nowhere, which is currently in post-production.

He’s also Lee Daniels’ choice to play MLK in his long-in-development King project.
