Fitness model Brittany Renner set the internet on fire when she recently returned to her old stomping ground at Jackson State University for homecoming.

As of late, Renner has widely become a controversial online personality. Following her public breakup with former beau and her son’s father, PJ Washington, social media users have been sharing their anti-Renner opinions loudly. Washington was just 18 years old when the pair first started dating, and 22 when they welcomed their son. Many felt Renner, who is six years older than Washington, had taken advantage of the young NBA star, and even suggested she groomed him.

Over the weekend, Renner drew more criticism after sharing a photo from JSU’s campus to her 4.5 million followers on Instagram with the caption, “Hey Jackson State! Hide your sons.”

The image sent the internet into a frenzy, with many questioning what Renner’s intentions were for being on campus.

As it turns out, Renner was invited by head coach Deion Sanders as a guest motivational speaker to meet with several JSU football players ahead of the team’s Saturday homecoming game against Alabama State University. Although there’s a big question mark as to what the team learned from Renner, it’s safe to say they were happy with the visit.

The players took their excitement right to social media to ensure everyone saw they were getting love from Renner. JSU football players Daelyn Dunn and Demetri Jordan each shared photos on Instagram of themselves with Renner. Jordan shared a photo with Renner and wrote, “She Different” in the caption.

Renner spent the remainder of the day celebrating JSU’s homecoming with her close friends.

Here’s what others thought about JSU’s special guest.

Renner’s ties to Jackson State span further than Coach Sanders’ homecoming invitation. Renner played defense on the women’s soccer team at JSU and was MVP of the 2010 Women’s Soccer All-Tournament Team. She also led her soccer team into a 2-0 win against Mississippi Valley State in the 2010 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.
