According to PEOPLE, Miller died at a private residence on May 27.

The death of Tytyana was first shared by her father on his Instagram page on May 29 with a caption expressing the need for more conversations surrounding mental illness and substance abuse.

“Our family is dealing with an overwhelming grief for the loss of my daughter Tytyana,” he said. “We respectfully request some privacy so that our family can grieve. We appreciate all of the prayers love and support.”

“Mental illness & substance abuse is a real issue that we can’t be afraid to talk about,” he added. “With God, we will get through this. #MyAngel.”

Tytyana’s brother, Romeo Miller acknowledged the death of his sister on Instagram as well to say he she is finally at peace.

“We appreciate all of the prayers, love, and support, and although this is sad times, I’m forever grateful for the memories I did have with my amazing sister,” he said. “Love on your loved ones, life is short. The silver lining, I know she’s in a way better place and finally at peace and free. God Bless.”

Two months after his initial statement, the 52-year-old shared the pain he has been dealing with since the tragedy.

“It’s hard,” he told Gayle King on CBS Mornings. “Coming from poverty, you would think that you would outlive your kids, and that was the mission. And I feel like, going to my daughter’s funeral, I feel like I went to my own funeral. And I don’t even want to go to no more funerals.”

The grieving father expressed he felt his daughter had more life goals to achieve noting she was working on a book.

“My daughter had a lot of life left in her,” he said. “She was a happy woman that knew that tomorrow she could do something better.”

“My sympathy go out to everybody that lost a child,” he said. “I said I’m gonna turn my pain into passion and I’m gonna turn it into a purpose because I can’t get my daughter back. I love her. I think about her every day. And it took me and family to go through something that I can’t just stop thinking about but I realized that I have to get out here and help and save other kids.”

On the show Growing Up Hip Hop, Tytyana bared all about her addiction and had been on the path to getting clean after her rehab stay.
