Diddy may have testimony that could exonerate Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the alleged murderer of late rapper Tupac. Attorneys for Davis say Diddy, who’s serving a four-year sentence, is holding a key piece of information about the 1996 murder of Tupac, Complex reported.

What is the information from Diddy that could exonerate Keefe D?

The latest information on Davis’ case comes after Netflix aired its documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning. The doc features a recording from 2008 showing Davis saying that Diddy offered him $1 million to take out Tupac in the middle of the East-West Coast feud at the time.

Attorneys are now saying Diddy can deny that he paid to have Tupac killed. That testimony may help absolve Davis, who can get a favorable judgement if it becomes clear that he only made a false claim for clout and profit to sell his own book, per the attorneys.

“Duane has made his feelings clear – if Diddy is a witness or makes a statement denying what he told cops then that helps him hugely,” a family friend told the New York Post. “Another factor is that this case will be a jury trial..and there is a suspicion that celebrities are often seen preferentially. So if Diddy backed up this story it would help immensely.”

What did Diddy say about Tupac’s murder?

Diddy has denied that he was involved in the fatal shooting of Tupac. Sitting down for an interview with Today in 2017, Diddy said the incident was “senseless” and “tragic.”

“When Tupac was shot and killed, it really resonated that things are really dangerous, but that made us want to promote peace more,” Diddy said in the interview. “It made us wanna go to LA and go to different places and tell people, ‘This is the most senseless, tragic thing that ever happened in music, in our culture and it needs to stop.'”

Davis is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 10, and he faces the possibility of life is prison.
